COMPETITIVE TEAM OVERVEIW

THE SQUAD

The Squad is designed for the dedicated dancer who loves to train, perform, and compete, but also values a balanced lifestyle. As the sister team to our Company, The Squad offers the same high-caliber training with a more manageable financial and time commitment. This program is ideal for dancers who wish to specialize in specific genres, such as Jazz, Hip Hop, or Contemporary. Members train with our Professional Faculty in styles that complement their competitive routines, with a weekly requirement of only 1–3 classes (based on age).

  • Flexible Competition: Dancers participate in at least one competitive group routine and have the option to add solos, duos, or trios (based on requirements).

  • Streamlined Schedule: Group rehearsals are held just one day per week (Wednesday), with no regular weekend commitments.

THE COMPANY

The Company
Designed for dedicated, competitive dancers, The Company offers an intensive, well-rounded training program. As a national award-winning team, members commit to a rigorous schedule that includes multiple days of technique classes—spanning ballet, jazz, contemporary, and conditioning—alongside 1-2 days of group rehearsals.

To ensure appropriate, safe training, classes are tailored by age and technical level. Company members participate in five local/regional competitions and conventions. While we focus on intense training, we also support outside growth, encouraging dancers to attend external workshops and conventions, as well as sponsorships or ambassadorships, provided they do not conflict with mandatory choreography rehearsals.

Requirements & Opportunities:

  • Commitment: Minimum of two group dances and consistent weekly technique training (2-6 hours / week based on age).

  • Schedule: Weekday training and weekday group rehearsal (no regularly scheduled classes or rehearsals on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays)

  • Growth: Options to compete solos, duos, or trios with the adherence to all requirements.

  • Mentorship: Elite instruction from renowned guest artists like Phil Wright, Olivia Liberati, Chris Smutek, Sophie Tosh, Kelly Demelio, Ava Flav, and more.

THE TOURING COMPANY

The Touring Company
TDM is proud to introduce a new Season 12 Touring Company. As a specialized subset of our Company program, this team is designed for dedicated dancers aiming to pursue collegiate-level dance and professional opportunities. Touring Company members must show an elevated commitment to the team, including travel for out-of-state events in late 2026 and May 2027. Touring Company Dancers will be selected by the Studio Owner and Company Director.

Requirements & Opportunities:

  • Consideration: Must be an 8-18 year old member of our 2026-2027 Company Team.

  • Weekly Commitment: Same training and rehearsal commitment as Company.

  • Schedule: Weekday training and weekday group rehearsal (no regularly scheduled classes or rehearsals on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays)

  • Travel: Must commit to travel. All travel costs are the responsibility of the dancer / dance family. Dancers must be accompanied by a guardian.

If your dancer is interested in joining one of our 2026-2027 Competitive Teams, please send an email to us at tdmcolorado@gmail.com.

The TDM Competitive Team Difference

  • TDM’s Competition Team is the proud home of many of the top dancers in the country. Our dancers have received numerous National Placements, Titles, Ambassadorships, Assistant Opportunities and Scholarships.

  • Our alumni includes dancers from popular television shows, convention apprentices and college dance team members.

  • Choose between our Company or Squad teams to fit your schedule, while enjoying the benefit of training together as a unified group.

  • TDM does not require an annual deposit for either Competitive Team.

  • Competitive Team dancers are provided with the option for in-house and/or Guest choreography for groups and solos / duos.

  • TDM does not hold auditions or charge audition fees for group dances.

  • Both Squad and Company dancers are able to learn and compete a solo and/or duo in the genre of their choice as long as they meet the minimum number of group dances (Squad = 2 group dances; Company = 3 group dances).

  • We believe in quality over quantity. Our maximum weekly dance requirement is 6 hours / week (for dancers ages 13+). Our group accolades / awards and individual dancer achievements (solos / scholarships / ambassadorships) are a testament to the quality of dance instruction provided.

  • We believe in the importance of rest for injury-prevention which is why our dancers are not required to commit to an intense weekly schedule.

  • We never substitute technique classes for rehearsals. Rehearsals are held during the weekdays in between scheduled classes.

  • TDM partners with industry leading choreographers who create new artistic pieces of choreography each season.

  • Unless there is a special circumstance, Competitive Team dancers are not required to take classes on Friday evenings, Saturdays or Sundays. We encourage our dancers to have a well-rounded life outside of the studio.

  • Nationals are never a requirement as we aim to offer the most cost-affordable Competitive program in the metro area. We do have many students who choose to attend Nationals with other team members or individually.

  • We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals, which is why many of our competitive team members also excel in various other sports and activities.

  • TDM supports our dancers who would like to attend Intensives and Master Classes at other studios. We love building positive relationships within the dance community!
